UFC APEX booked by the WWE on June 9th, for the first time ever

This Monday, the WWE announced that they will host their first-ever event at the UFC APEX on June 9th, bringing NXT Battleground to Las Vegas.

Both the WWE and the UFC were merged under TKO Group Holdings back in 2023, and since then have been running separately as their own products.

When the announcement was first made at the back end of last year, UFC CEO, Dana White, was adamant that the two companies would stay separate and there would be no crossover.

Despite that ringing true for the large part, the WWE announced on Monday, that they will host their NXT Battleground event, scheduled for June 9th, at the UFC’s state-of-the-art facility, the APEX.

The facility has split opinion amongst UFC fans for the past few years, as with there being only a small capacity crowd, the events that are held there lack energy. Just this year, the UFC has already hosted seven events at the APEX.

Originally the facility was only used for Dana White’s Contender Series and The Ultimate Fighter.

In the press release, WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, Shawn Michaels said: “We are always exploring new frontiers to showcase NXT and we are excited to bring Battleground to this world-class event and production facility in partnership with the UFC.”

The 2024 NXT Battleground event was originally scheduled to take place on May 26th at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia.

Also in the press release, it is stated that ‘Priority Passes’ will soon be available which includes ‘premium seating’ and more. The UFC APEX only holds a capacity of a few hundred people.

NXT streams every Tuesday on Peacock, and it gives the fans a chance to see the upcoming generation of new wrestling stars.
