Max Holloway teases UFC have ‘something special’ in store for fight week and fans think they know what it is

Ahead of UFC 300, Max Holloway has suggested that the promotion has “something special” lined up for the mid-week pre-fight press conference.

After a string of rather lackluster fight night cards, we’re now only a matter of days away from UFC 300 and one of the biggest PPVs in MMA history; topped by three title fights, including Max Holloway taking on Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt.

‘Blessed’ returns at UFC 300 to fight for the BMF title

Max Holloway returns to the UFC octagon on April 13 to challenge Justin Gaethje for his silver-plated BMF title belt; it will be the third-to-last fight of the evening and the first of three title bouts before Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill, and Zhang Weili vs Yan Xiaonan.

Gaethje is riding into UFC 300 with a two-fight winning streak, a majority decision victory over Rafael Fiziev, and a second-round head kick knockout of Dustin Poirier.

Holloway also has two victories in his last two bouts, a unanimous decision over Arnold Allen followed by a third-round knockout of The Korean Zombie – this week, ‘Blessed’ teased that fans might be in for an added surprise during fight week.

Max Holloway teases ‘something special’ is coming in fight week

In the latest episode of his Road to 300 series, as shared on his official YouTube channel, Max Holloway said that preparation for Justin Gaethje is now complete, just a few days away from the UFC 300 PPV:

“There’s nothing much [left that] you can do you know. All the hard work is done, we got a couple of hard workouts [left] but ain’t nothing you know, there’s nothing you can do in 2 weeks to get ready for next Saturday.”

Holloway then teased “I heard that they’ve got something special planned for the press conference, so I’m looking forward to fight week.”

Whilst ‘Blessed’ didn’t elaborate on what this rumored ‘something special’ could be, MMA fans theorize that at the UFC 300 press conference, the promotion will finally announce the return of Conor McGregor.

This is after Dana White posted a short clip to Instagram of Conor McGregor with the caption “Coming Soon” on Friday, April 5.

Whilst Conor McGregor is expected to face Michael Chandler in his return fight, Charles Oliveira’s coach also recently teased that they’d be willing to forgo a UFC title fight for the chance to face ‘Notorious’ later in the year.

Holloway expects ‘violence’ in the people’s main event of UFC 300

Veteran MMA journalist Kevin Iole is currently running a fascinating fan poll to see which UFC 300 fight the community is most excited about; with Max Holloway vs Justin Gaethje currently leading the survey.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Holloway acknowledged that “We are the people’s main event for sure. I think we are the third fight on the main card, so that’s even more exciting, we are the people’s main event.”

“Getting to share the Octagon with someone like Gaethje, future Hall of Famer, is amazing, I cannot wait. The guy is known for violence…The only word that comes to my mind when I think about this fight is violence, man, violence man, I look forward to it, I cannot wait, April 13 is the day, can’t wait to do it.”

UFC 300 goes down April 13 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
