‘I’d whoop him too’…Bryan Battle reveals altercation with opponent’s family after controversial stoppage

Bryan Battle reacts to his altercation with Ange Loosa’s brother after UFC Vegas 88, says he would have ‘whooped’ both Loosa brothers in one night.

The welterweight co-main event started brightly for Bryan Battle but ended in bitter disappointment after opponent Ange Loosa withdrew from the contest with an eye injury in the second round.

The controversy continued well after the referee had officially called a stop to the contest, with Battle sharing at the post-fight press conference that he was also confronted with Loosa’s family, following his expletive-laced interview with Michael Bisping in the cage.

Bryan Battle reveals altercation with Loosa brother after stoppage

Bryan Battle essentially ‘won’ three fights last night at UFC Vegas 88: Twice against Ange Loosa due to a controversial doctor’s stoppage and heated post-fight argument, followed by one final altercation with one of Loosa’s family members as he left the Apex.

Battle had dominated the opening round of the contest, stinging Loosa with some powerful shots on the feet before accidentally eye-poking the Swiss fighter just a minute into the second round. Loosa was unable to continue, and the bout was ruled a no-contest.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Battle revealed that as he was walking out of the cage with his teammates and coaches, someone from Loosa’s team began to hurl insults towards him:

“It was his brother, dude his brother was trying to act tough. I was like ‘bro I’d whoop you’re a** too bro settle the f*** down, like your brother is a professional fighter and I whooped his a** – you don’t think I’d whoop you’re a** too.’”

The TUF alumni started to suggest that he understood why Loosa’s family were so irate at both the doctor’s stoppage and post-fight antics, before hilariously ‘turning heel’ once again, laughing:

“I get it, I mean I would be the same way if one of my siblings had an altercation then I would also be like sitting there…Nah actually, I probably wouldn’t do that ’cause I’d be with my sibling and I’d be asking them why they quit in front of the world like that and embarrassed our family on ESPN.”

“He decided to come talk s*** to me, whatever bro I’m just surprised that they let him in the building, but that’s just me,” said Battle, whose record remains 10-2 following the no-contest.

The 29-year-old also shared that whilst he would be open to rematching Loosa, he won’t stall his own rise through the UFC welterweight rankings for a fight that many fans and pundits assume he would have won, had the fight continued.

Although Marcin Tybura was able to earn the biggest win of his professional career in the main event against Tai Tuivasa and despite the no contest, it would be hard to argue that anyone’s stock from UFC Vegas 88 rose more than Battle’s.
