Following his win in the UFC Vegas 88 main event this Saturday against Tai Tuivasa, Marcin Tybura captured the attention of fellow heavyweight, Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Going into the main event on Saturday, the 38-year-old Pole was hoping to return to the win column after he lost his last fight in July last year to Tom Aspinall. Tuivasa was also hoping to return to the win column, coming in off the back of three consecutive losses.
‘Bam Bam’ started the fight fast and sharp, blitzing into range and catching Tybura with a few heavy shots. The two engaged in a clinch around 30 seconds into the fight, and Tuivasa caught Tybura with a huge elbow, drawing blood from the number 10-ranked heavyweight.
After another minute of striking exchanges in the center of the cage, ‘Tybur’ decided to try and take the fight to the ground where he knew he held a huge advantage.
Not long after Tybura scored the takedown, he began reigning down thunderous ground-and-pound whilst riding the back of ‘Bam Bam’. The Aussie decided to give up his back to try and get out of the way of some of the hellacious ground-and-pound, but that marked the beginning of the end.
Tybura sunk in a deep rear-naked choke which saw Tuivasa begin going to sleep. Herb Dean stepped in to stop the 31-year-old from fully going to sleep, with Tybura returning to the win column.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik eyes fight with Marcin Tybura
Immediately following the fight, ‘Bigi Boy’, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, took to X to congratulate Tybura on the win, whilst also setting up a possible fight between the two colossus heavyweights.
“Congratulations Marcin Tybura! I see you.” Rozenstruik commented.
Rozenstruik and Tybura have been scheduled to fight each other before, on two separate occasions, with the first bout being rescheduled and the second one being canceled due to a Tybura illness.
Despite returning to the win column, in his Octagon interview, Tybura didn’t make any callouts for his next fight, saying: “I just wanted to prove to everyone that I’m (still) capable of doing good things. I didn’t prepare any names because I was coming off a loss so I just wanted to focus on this one. Anyone from the top 10 would be great for me.”
Although Rozenstruik is currently one rank below Tybura at 11, he is coming off an impressive main event victory of his own, against Shamil Gaziev. With the two previously being booked together twice, it may be a fight Tybura entertains.
Marcin Tybura has fought at the UFC Apex, in the smaller cage, four times, and has won on all four occasions.
