Colby Covington has sounded off on Michael ‘Venom’ Page following his recent UFC debut performance at UFC 299, against Kevin Holland.
Page’s highly anticipated UFC debut came last Saturday at UFC 299, where he dominated Kevin Holland over three uncompetitive rounds.
Covington last competed at UFC 296 back in December, and his uninspiring performance against Leon Edwards led to fans conspiring about whether it could be his last, at least at the top of the division. Despite that, he has since come out and ordered Ian Garry to follow three stipulations so that they can fight each other.
With Michael ‘Venom’ Page now inside the welterweight top 15, there is a slim possibility that he and Covington could end up facing each other.
The London Shootfighters product is 37 years old, so the UFC will likely give him a fight considerably up the 170lb rankings next. UFC commentator, Michael Bisping, has recently suggested a fight between ‘MVP’ and the aforementioned Ian Garry, should take place next.
Colby Covington rips into ‘bum’ Michael ‘Venom’ Page
Talking to Submission Radio, Colby Covington gave his opinion on Page’s UFC debut, stating that it ‘wasn’t entertaining’ and that ‘MVP’ is ‘overhyped’.

“The guy is trash, he’s a bum. I mean look at his last fight before that he got beat by Mike Perry, we saw how Mike Perry ended up in the UFC he got his nose smashed and knocked out three or four times in a row.
“It just shows the kid is overhyped, they’re trying to hype him up and give him a guy like Kevin Holland who’s a complete scrub I mean 50/50 fighter at best. That’s all you (Page) can do, that pathetic fight and that pathetic walkout, that wasn’t entertaining, it only works when you’re good and not fighting scrubs that shouldn’t even be fighting in the UFC.” Colby said.
The 36-year-old went on to say that if the UFC ever scheduled them to fight, it would be an ‘easy paycheck’ for him.

“I didn’t make anything of it (performance) I just saw another easy money paycheck if the UFC ever wants to give me that in the future.” Colby added.
Although Colby Covington’s future at the top of the welterweight division is uncertain, he is undoubtedly still trying to stay a relevant name amongst the rest of the 170lb pack.
