‘You were scared’… Colby Covington taunts Ian Garry and finally responds to fight challenge

Colby Covington finally responds to Ian Machado Garry’s 298 callout, claims the Irishman now has his full attention; albeit biting off more than he can chew.

‘The Future’ and ‘Chaos’ have been going back and forth on social media for several years at this point, with the brash Irishman taking the opportunity to call out Covington after his most recent victory at UFC 298 in February.

Responding on social media, Covington has claimed that Garry now had his full attention moving forward, warning the rising contender that he would be making too large of a jump up in competition should they face each other later this year.

Colby Covington responds to Ian Machado Garry’s callout

Following his split decision victory over Geoff Neal at UFC 298, Ian Machado Garry chose not to mince his words as he called out former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington in his post-fight interview.

“There’s one guy I want next, and I’ve been saying his name all week… his name is Colby Covington. That guy is on a three-fight skid against world champions, and I want to retire you from the UFC…Anywhere. Anytime.”

It might have taken several weeks, but Covington has finally responded and in typical ‘Chaos’ fashion, unleashed an expletive-laced rant on social media from the deck of a yacht:

“We’re out here sailing on seven figures and salty nerd tears. Usually, when you’re out here, it’s all about fishing and everybody knows when you’re going fishing, it’s important to have the right bait. So let me teach you all a lesson about how you bait someone… Ian Garry, you translucent c***, you wanted my attention, now you got it.”

Covington claimed that the only reason why Garry wants a shot at ‘Chaos’ is because he’s the biggest star in the division, adding that the Irishman lost his chance to go toe-to-toe on the mic after pulling out of his fight with Vicente Luque back in late 2023.

“You had your chance in December to step on the same stage as me and have a microphone and say whatever you want to say to me…But you were scared, scared of what I was going to say to you, and you got the sniffles, and you cried your way out!”

“If you were scared of that Ian, if you’re scared of words, what do you think it’s going to be like when you step in the steel cage with Chaos?”

Covington, who is 2-3 in his last five fights, is currently ranked at #4 in the UFC welterweight division, several places above Ian Machado Garry who presently occupies the #7 spot.

“Now you want Donald Trump’s favorite fighter? That’s a big step up in competition junior, you’re biting off more than you can chew.”

Covington also went on to taunt Garry further by issuing three ‘stipulations’ he must meet, including comments aimed at his personal life.

However, none of the three ‘stipulations’ included anything legitimately contractual and instead aimed to bait Garry into a response – which Covington says he now has 24 hours to share.
