UFC strawweight inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame after a storied career

At UFC 299 on Saturday, the promotion announced that former UFC strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, was to be inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame as part of the 2024 class.

She is set to become just the second woman inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame, joining Ronda Rousey who was inducted in 2018.

The Polish strawweight joined the UFC back in 2014 and won the strap in just her third fight with the promotion, defeating Carla Esparza at UFC 185. From there on, Jedrzejczyk became one of the most dominant champions in UFC history, defending her 115lb title five times on the bounce.

Along the way, she was part of some of the greatest fights in UFC history, and her fight with current champion Zhang Weili back in 2020 is regarded as the greatest women’s fight in MMA history.

Throughout her eight-year UFC tenure, she captured several records. She holds the most title fight wins in strawweight history, the longest win streak in women’s strawweight history, and more.

Joanna’s last UFC fight came in 2022 and it was her anticipated rematch with Zhang Weili. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to ride off into the sunset with a win, as Weili KO’d her with a devastating spinning back fist.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk was one of the pioneers of women’s MMA, especially in Europe, and she paved the way for many others who followed in her footsteps. Jedrzejczyk is the third inductee in 2024, and she will join Frankie Edgar and Wanderlei Silva who were inducted earlier this year.
