Six records Dustin Poirier could match should he win at UFC 299

A big win over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 could move Dustin Poirier closer to six different UFC records.

Out of the various promotional records that the UFC keeps track of, Dustin Poirier’s name can be found scattered throughout the leaderboards.

At UFC 299, Poirier takes on Benoit Saint-Denis and is a slight underdog against the surging French contender – yet a big win could see ‘The Diamond’ move closer to six historic MMA records.

Most wins in the UFC

Dustin Poirier is currently joint-seventh for the record of most wins in the UFC with 21 promotion victories so far.

A win over Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event of UFC 299 would move ‘The Diamond’ into joint-fourth place alongside Neil Magny, Charles Oliveira, and Demian Maia – all on 22 wins apiece.

The current record holder is Jim Miller (26), with Andrei Arlovski and Donald Cerrone in joint second place on 23 UFC victories.

Most finishes in the UFC

Dustin Poirer is joint-fifth for the most finishes in UFC history, with 14 victories coming inside the distance.

A TKO or submission win over Benoit Saint-Denis would see Poirier move to joint-fourth place alongside Matt Brown (15).

Charles Oliveira holds the record for most wins in the organization so far (20), followed by Jim Miller (18), and Donald Cerrone (16).

Most KOs in the UFC

‘The Diamond’ of Louisiana also currently has 10 wins coming by way of KO/TKO and is joint-sixth in the UFC’s record books.

Saint-Denis has never been knocked out in his professional career, with a KO/TKO win for Poirier meaning he would move to joint-third with Thiago Santos, Anthony Johnson, and Anderson Silva – all on 11.

Derrick Lewis leads the KO/TKO leaderboard so far with 14, followed by Matt Brown in second place with 13.

Total fight night bonuses

Throughout his UFC tenure, Poirier has earned himself 13 post-fight bonuses (performance of the night, and fight of the night combined), and is seventh on the current record books.

Another bonus at UFC 299 would see Poirier join Anderson Silva on 14 in joint-sixth place.

Leading the pack are Charles Oliveira (19), Donald Cerrone (18), Nate Diaz (16), Jim Miller (15), and Joe Lauzon (15).

Dustin Poirier is currently joint-tenth for most knockdowns landed in UFC history at 13, alongside Melvin Guillard, Thiago Alves, Anthony Johnson, Conor McGregor, Khalil Roundtree Jr, and Israel Adesanya.

With more than one knockdown potentially on the table against Saint-Denis, Poirier could see himself catapulted up the leaderboard: Donald Cerrone (20), Anderson Silva (18), Jeremy Stephens (18), Edson Barboza (16), Chuck Liddell (14), Lyoto Machida (14), Mauricio Rua (14), Junior Dos Santos (14), Thiago Santos (14).

‘The Diamond’ is also in ninth place for the most significant strikes landed in UFC history (1650) ahead of his UFC 299 co-main event clash against the surging Frenchman.

Poirier is currently chasing record-holder Max Holloway (3197), followed by Angela Hill (1896), Sean Strickland (1887), Frankie Edgar (1801), Rafael dos Anjos (1782), Joanna Jedrzejczyk (1754), Donald Cerrone (1748), and Bobby Green (1668).
