KSI, given name Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, is definitely a success. Forbes magazine has ranked him #2 on their 2023 Top Creators List. Here’s what they say about him:
“Olajide Olatunji, known as KSI, began reacting to FIFA video games on YouTube in 2009, attracting millions of followers for his outlandish humor. He’s since gone from comedian to contender, transforming into a rapper and boxer, releasing two singles in 2023, and securing a multiyear distribution deal for his promotional company, Misfits Boxing. He’s the face of Prime Hydration alongside Logan Paul (#6 on the Top Creators list). The sports drink became the official drink for FC Barcelona, UFC, and Arsenal this year. Controversy has followed Olatunji for boxing decorum, misogynistic content, and racist and transphobic slurs, but he always turns the scandals into views, both online and in the ring.”
KSI spends $50,000 on mouthguard for Fury fight
KSI won’t be bringing his wealth into the ring against Tommy Fury this Saturday, October 14 in Manchester, England, well maybe not all his wealth.
When he hits the ring on Saturday night, KSI looks like he’ll be doing it in style. Or, at the vary least, in gaudy luxury. Custom mouthguard company SafeJawz showed off their latest handiwork in a post on social media.
“A few weeks ago, we were set to task by KSI to make something very special ahead of his upcoming bout this weekend against Tommy Fury,” the company wrote on their Instagram page.
“The mouthguard, worth over £41,000 and made with the help of 16 individual experts, includes 108 individual high clarity GVS diamonds (all responsibly sourced) and has also been hand gilded with 24 carat gold.
“There is also a gold leaf PRIME logo front and centre, which is also embedded with 50 individual high-quality diamonds.”
The is one heck of a flashy mouthpiece which is fitting for a top YouTuber who’s putting together probably the most successful celebrity boxing career of any influencer who’s stepped in the ring. It’s not exactly gold medaling at the Olympics, but it’s something and KSI is celebrating himself more than adequately.
KSI says Tommy Fury isn’t taking him seriously
Do I really need to point out that celebrity boxing is more circus than sport and maybe that’s why Tommy Fury isn’t training that hard? Fury posted a photo of his most recent sparring partner as he gets ready to take on KSI. The opponent? A young boxer sporting just a 3-1-2 pro record.
“How ******* dare you?” KSI wrote in a post to his social media. “You’re not taking me seriously at all you ******* piece of ****.”
“I’m preparing myself for the ultimate challenge and this is what you’re sparring with? A middleweight with **** movement and weak *** punches?”
To be fair KSI has put together a 4-0 (1 NC) pro boxing record, but let’s keep things in perspective his four wins have come over a bunch of non-professional boxers. He owns wins over Logan Paul (pro boxing record 0-1), Swarmz (pro boxing record 1-2), Luis Alcarez Pineda (2-7), FaZe Temperr (3-2), and Joe Fournier (9-0, 1 NC).
Wait a minute, looks like KSI’s competition is actually getting tougher as he goes along. He initially was credited with a win over Fournier but it was overturned for illegal elbows.
KSI faces Tommy Fury this Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Manchester, England on a card co-headlined by Logan Paul vs Dillon Danis.
