KSW 84 is live this Saturday. KSW, one of Europe’s most popular and successful MMA organizations, is riding high off their sell out Colosseum 2 show from last month. That event saw Mamed Khalidov obliterate Scott Askham in their trilogy fight and the ever-popular Mariusz Pudzionaowski fall to Artur Szpilka.

This event doesn’t have household names, but there’s some that MMA sickos should recognize and get excited for.

The main event has British MMA pioneer Phil de Fries (formerly of the UFC and Bellator) defending his KSW heavyweight title against Szymon Bajor, who beat Ronny Markes in PFL action last time out.

De Fries had a so-so career in the UFC, taking wins over Rob Broughton and Oli Thompson before losing to Todd Duffee and Matt Mitrione (both by first round KO). He became a journey man after that, beating Brett Rogers in South Korea and losing to Satoshi Ishii in Japan.

After wins in M-1 and Bellator he made his way to Poland. Since joining KSW, De Fries has had the most successful stretch in his career. He’s racked up nine straight wins in KSW, winning the heavyweight title in his 2018 debut. He has defended that belt versus Luis Henrique, Thomasz Narkun (twice) andβ€”most recentlyβ€”his old foe Todd Duffee (via first round KO).

Also on the card is Olympic bronze medallist Damian Janikowski, who has been up and down in MMA. He takes on former Thunderstrike middleweight champion Cezariusz Kesik. UFC vet Damian Stasiak is also on the card. He meets Pascal Hintzen.

Other notable bouts on the card include Islam Djabrailov vs. Sebastian Przybysz in the bantamweight division and Nemanja Nikolic taking on Bartosz Lesko at middleweight.
