PFL 5 Preview

The 2023 PFL regular season for the promotion continues in Atlanta, Georgia, US with PFL 5 tonight, June 17, 2023. The PFL Heavyweight Champion from the 2022 season will appear in his first PFL event of 2023. Since he is currently sitting on 0 points, Delija will need to accomplish an early finish if he has any hope at reaching the playoffs this season.

Ante Delija vs. Maurice Greene

‘Walking Trouble’ Ante Delija (23-5-0, 11 KOs, 6 subs), the 2022 PFL Heavyweight Tournament Winner, and PFL Finalist (2021), has also fought for M-1 Global, RIZIN/KSW, among other promotions throughout his pro career. Back in 2020, he was all set to debut in the UFC versus none other than Ciryl Gane, but was unable to compete due to contractual obligations with PFL (Professional Fighters League).

Delija will being going toe-to-toe in the headliner of PFL 5 with kickboxer and BJJ artist, Maurice Greene (23-5-0, 11KOs, 6subs). He’s a former TUF 28 (The Ultimate Fighter) alum, having fought seven fights in the UFC before his release. Ante is the younger man by 4 years, at 32 years old. The former Factory-X team member is currently training with Jackson Wink MMA and The Performance Compound. He is entering the octagon coming off a second round TKO victory against Marcelo Nunes from PFL 2.

Ante Delija is the more experienced professional fighter, having had 10 more fights, and made his debut in 2011, 1 year and 6 months earlier than Greene, whose first professional fight was in 2012. He has fought 12 more professional rounds, 49 to Greene’s 37. If the fight goes to the ground, their records suggest Greene will have a large advantage over Delija, boosting at 55% submission rate over Delija’s 26%.

Larissa Pacheco vs. Amber Leibrock
