Seven UFC fighters were cut earlier in the week, with familiar names such as Ilir Latifi and Conor McGregor’s teammate Makwan Amirkhani among those getting the axe. Apparently the roster purge doesn’t end there, as two days later, eight more fighters have been removed from the roster as well.
UFC parts ways with eight more fighters
As noted by the the UFC Roster Watch twitter account, which is a reliable algorithm that tracks the UFC roster activity, eight more fighters have been removed from the roster. These fighters have either been cut or the UFC have not renewed their contracts after completion.
There weren’t any big surprises on this list, but the most tenured of the batch is Takashi Sato, with the Japanese welterweight being with the UFC for five years and having seven fights with the promotion. Sato has a win over Ben Saunders and Jason Witt, but has unfortunately lost his last four bouts to the likes of Gunnar Nelson and Bryan Battle.
Also on the list is heavyweight UFC fighter Maxim Grishin, who alternated losses and wins during his five fight stint with the promotion. His last bout was a decision loss to Philipe Lins this past weekend.
List of most recent UFC fighters that have been cut
Takashi Sato (2-5 UFC)
Max Grishin (2-3 UFC)
Journey Newson (1-4, 1 NC UFC)
Orion Cosce (1-2 UFC)
Aaron Phillips (0-2 UFC)
Nick Fiore (0-2)
Erick Gonzalez (0-3)
