‘Return to Glory’ Preview

Adrien Broner vs. Bill Hutchinson

‘The Problem’, Adrien Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs), the former four-division titleholder, signed with Don King (91) back in March (yes, Don King is still Promoting). King has tossed an opponent into the ring for him. But is he a worthy adversary? With his history of trouble with the law, it’s beyond ironic who he is set to face in his first bout since 2021.

‘AB’ will being going toe-to-toe with Bill Hutchinson (20-2-4, 9 KOs), a practicing Pittsburgh attorney, who hasn’t even ever been scheduled beyond 8 rounds in his entire dozen year pro career. Not only that, but he has only had one bout since 2019. Broner has the height advantage, fights at a higher weight class, and then there is the fact Bill has yet to defeat anyone of any notoriety.

Broner, the 33-year-old former champ, has only fought once during the previous four plus years, and during that span he has failed to win any fight that could even remotely be considered meaningful. In his last four fights he is 1-2-1. They are feeding Hutchinson to him in an attempt to reestablish ‘AB’ as an elite fighter.

The 34-year-old Hutchinson, basically specializes in dancing with fellow journeymen. With this being his first 10-round bout, at heavier weight class, and a sizable leap up in opposition, it is unlikely Bill has a chance of upsetting this clash — unless Broner has significant ring rust, or Bill gets a lucky break.

Ahmed Elbiali vs. Rodolfo Gomez, Jr.

Elbiali (22-1-0, 10 KOs), the Egyptian from Miami, will have a surefire banger of a title match against Laredo’s Rodolfo Gomez, Jr. (14-6-3) in the ‘Return to Glory’ co-main event. ‘The American Pharoah’ will be going to war with the Latin ‘Cobrita’ for the WBA NABA Light Heavyweight Championship which is up for grabs.

Other Notable Bouts on the Card

The 26-year-old Texan, Antonio Williams (15-0-1) will square off against the former Latin champion, Dominican Braulio Rodriguez (20-6-0), when they fight for the WBC Fecarbox Title of the Lightweights. Nelson Machod, 26-year-old Cuban native fighting out of Florida (19-0-0) takes on southpaw, Jonathan Smith (8-1-0).

Tale of the Tape
