It looks as though longtime top-ranked UFC heavyweight Curtis Blaydes is gearing up for a bout with the division’s hottest prospect in Jailton Almeida… in Sao Paulo, Brazil no less. This will serve as the November 4th UFC Fight Night main event.
As first reported by MMAJunkie, Almeida will be attempting to enter into title territory in front of a home crowd, with Blaydes acting as the keeper of the front gate. Curtis sure is picking an uphill battle to find some redemption. Last month, his attempt to keep the heavyweight gate went horribly wrong when eventual title challenger, Sergei Pavlovich, busted his chops in just three-minutes and eight-seconds.
Curtis Blaydes had a rough go his last time out
It seems like just yesterday (February 2022) that Almeida was debuting in the UFC at 205-pounds, yet here he is knocking on the door of a title shot up at heavyweight just 1.5 years later. His BJJ is miles and miles ahead of everyone else’s in the division, and the way he incorporates his ground and pound to enhance his Jits is downright next level. I for one cannot wait to see how that style stacks up against the wrestling pedigree of a Curtis Blaydes! What if Jailton can’t get Curtis down? Oooooh!

This matchup has not been made official by the UFC, and November is kind of a ways away for this one to be cemented. Fingers crossed, though, because this stylistic matchup intrigues the bajeezus out of me. Stay glued to Bloody Elbow as more scraps for the promotion’s return to Sao Paulo are revealed.
