Last night the MF & DAZN: X Series 007 boxing event happened at the OVO Wembley Arena in London, England. We didn’t get any high level boxing, but we still had a couple of ‘wow’ moments and some competitive scraps. Not to mention the main event of this boxing card ending with YouTube turned prizefighter, KSI, knocking out previously undefeated professional boxer, Joe Fournier… with an elbow.
The best knockout of the night was by far KSI’s illegal elbow. The blow came right after a massive right hand staggered Joe, and had this been Muay Thai, MMA, or even Lethwei then his finish of Fournier would be held in the highest regard. The problem here is that this was a boxing exhibition, and somehow an illegal blow resulted in a win for the fouling fighter.
Another shining moment on the card involved Viruzz overcoming all sorts of adversity to rally and knock out DK Money in the second round. Also on the card, the Salt Papi hype train suffered a big hit after Bellator MMA veteran Anthony Taylor beat him by unanimous decision. When it comes to effort, maybe no two fighters put forth more than Paige Cakey and Tennessee Thresher. From bell-to-bell these two threw punch after punch, with the momentum swinging several times as neither one was willing to go away.
