UFC Vegas 72 is going down tomorrow from the APEX Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a stellar bantamweight bash between Yadong Song and Ricky Simón. Before the festivities begin, let’s go take a gander at what the betting lines look like.
The numbers for this main event are awfully tight, as both Song and Simón can be found with minus lines. The difference here is Ricky also being offered up with a plus line on some sites, depending on where you look. Song is on deck anywhere from -117 to -128, while Simón is listed anywhere from -106 to +105.
The odds project that Song vs. Simón will need a trio of judges in order to determine a winner. The prop bet ‘Fight goes to decision’ is nestled in a favored position of -160, with a +125 comeback on the ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ option.
Will this one be going the distance, though? Sure, Song has posted up some decisions during his tenure with the UFC, but six of his eleven promotional matches have ended early. Just look at what he did to Marlon Moraes, Julio Arce, and Alejandro Perez.
As for Simón’s ten UFC matches, five resulted in a finish, including a technical sub of Merab Dvalishvili, and then the other five went to the judges. Ricky has been pitted against more grapplers than strikers in the UFC, and next to Rob Font, Song will be his most polished striker to date. I can’t help but remember how Urijah Faber put him away.
Sure, a powerhouse like Simón could very well get his takedowns, grind on Yadong, and maybe even lock up an arm triangle or something. But man, he is going to have to wade through some serious firepower to get to his positions. The exotic bet ‘Yadong wins inside distance’ can be scooped up at a value of +165, while ‘Simon wins inside distance’ has been spotted at +200.
