Gervonta Davis finished Ryan Garcia with a perfectly placed liver shot at the 7th round, to win the bout between the two young and previously undefeated superstars. That result and his overall good performance seemed to have avoided any potential drama from the questionable judges’ scorecards.

As seen on the photo below, judges seemingly ignored Gervonta Davis’ clean knockdown in the second round. None of the three judges gave Davis a 10-8 score in the second stanza, with judges Tim Cheatham and Steve Weisfeld both giving him a 10-9. Those scores are already disagreeable, but to make things more bizarre, judge Dave Moretti somehow scored that as a 10-10!

Although clearly should’ve been a 10-8 instead, 10-9 can be — somewhat — argued as Garcia was slightly winning until that knockdown. 10-10 just seems inexcusable, and a round with a clean knockdown somehow being a draw is flat out wrong.

In a close fight, that could’ve caused controversy, but luckily we got a decisive finish instead.
