It’s fight day for UFC Vegas 71, which is returning to the over-familiar APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event of the evening is occurring in the heavyweight division when the #3 rated, Sergei Pavlovich, throws down with the #4 rated, Curtis Blaydes. Before we get there, though, let’s go check in with the betting odds.
The bookies are feeling them some Curtis Blaydes, and foresee him getting past Sergei Pavlovich in the main event. Blaydes’ moneyline can be had at a cost of -170, with a $100 bet potentially seeing a complete payout of $158.82.
Despite an insane five-fight stretch of first-round finishes, Pavlovich is coming in as the betting underdog. Sergei is on deck with a plus value of +145, and dropping a hundo at those odds could possibly see a total return of $245.
The oddsmakers aren’t as high on Pavlovich here, and perhaps that’s because they recall his abysmal showing on the ground in his last loss to Alistair Overeem back in 2018. Extrapolate that performance against someone with the wrestling chops of Blaydes, and it starts to make sense why the more experienced grappler is favored.
According to the betting odds, the most likely outcome for tonight’s UFC main event is Blaydes coming up with a knockout. The prop bet ‘Blaydes wins by TKO/KO’ is clocking in at a favored tick of -110, while the ‘Pavlovich wins by TKO/KO’ line is listed with an underdog value of +175.
