The UFC’s flyweight title will sway in the balance in the co-main as the champion, Deiveson Figueiredo collides with the interim champ, Brandon Moreno… FOR THE FOURTH TIME!!!
It’s rare to see to fights compete against each other four times, let alone at the highest possible level, yet here we are. Their first war at UFC 256 in 2020 ended in a majority draw, their second encounter concluded with Moreno hitting a third round RNC, and the trilogy bout saw Figueiredo walk away with a unanimous decision.
Perhaps this tetralogy tilt will produce a double knockout, and then the fifth fight will involve a disqualification. From there we have to check the no contest box for the sixth, and then for their seventh match we get a Gray Maynard vs. Rob Emerson moment — where one guy taps and the other knocks himself out. In all seriousness, though, these are the two very best flyweights on the planet, and it’s a real treat to be able to watch them go at it one more time.

Brandon Moreno def. Deiveson Figueiredo by TKO at 5:00 of round 3: Flyweight Title
Moreno scored a takedown within the first 20-seconds of the opening round, but Figueiredo used a guillotine to hit a reversal and get back up. In open space, both fighters were being patient. Figueiredo was sneaking in his front kick, while Moreno was connecting with his hands. Moreno hit another takedown, but Figueiredo went for a leg lock as time expired.
Figueiredo caught a kick to earn himself an early takedown in the second round. A few ground strikes landed, but Moreno scrambled up to his feet without absorbing a ton of damage. Moreno went for another takedown, but Figueiredo ended up on top. Then Moreno shot in again, but had to fight off a guillotine before getting to enjoy top position for the remainder of the round.
The third round saw Moreno land a big left hook, followed by what looked like an eye poke, but the referee had the athletes fight on. Moreno went after Figueiredo as Deiveson was protesting to the referee, and ended up in top position again. Moreno racked up a bunch of control time, keeping Figueiredo on his back until he bell again.
The doctor came in to check on the eye of Figueiredo before the start of the fourth round, and since the eye was swollen shut, the official recommended that the fight be stopped. Brandon Moreno is once again the UFC’s undisputed flyweight champion!
