One day after losing a booking with Kai Kara-France, UFC flyweight Alex Perez has a new opponent.

Damon Martin and Mike Heck of MMA Fighting report that Perez and Manel Kape have joined the line-up of UFC San Antonio, the upcoming Fight Night scheduled for March 25 at the AT&T Center in Texas. Kape has since confirmed the report.

“Alex Perez about to lose his place,” wrote Kape on Twitter.

For his next appearance, Perez was originally paired against the aforementioned Kara-France for UFC 284 in February. However, ‘Don’t Blink’ announced he was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury, which led to Perez being removed from the event altogether. In 2022, the Team Oyama product has fought once, losing to Alexandre Pantoja by first-round neck crank at UFC 277 inJuly.

Kape has rattled off three straight wins in his most recent Octagon appearances. ’Starboy’ was in action this past Saturday at UFC Vegas 66, where he defeated David Dvořák by unanimous decision.

Perez and Kape are ranked No. 6 and No. 9 in the division, respectively.

With the addition of Perez vs. Kape, UFC San Antonio has five confirmed fights. The line-up is as follows:

  • Maycee Barber vs. Andrea Lee
  • Chidi Njokuani vs. Albert Duraev
  • C.J. Vergara vs. Daniel da Silva
  • Holly Holm vs. Yana Kunitskaya
  • Alex Perez vs. Manel Kape
