Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring, and full play-by-play (main and co-main) as UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Emmett goes down in Austin, Texas.
The headliner comes in the featherweight division with title hopes at stake as contenders Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett face off in a five-rounder. Unfortunately the scheduled co-main event between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon has been cancelled again on fight day, this time due to a Lauzon injury, so the new co-main will see Tim Means taking on Kevin Holland at welterweight.
A bantamweight (well, catchweight) fight between Adrian Yanez and Tony Kelley has been promoted to the main card due to the cancellation.
This is an ESPN+ show, and goes down at what has become the usual time for these types of shows. The seven-fight preliminary card will air on ESPN2 and ESPN+ and will kick off at 4pm ET/1pm PT. The six-fight main card will stay on ESPN+ and starts at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
Let’s go!
Main Card (ESPN, ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET)
Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett
Round 1 – Timid start. Texas crowd getting impatient right away. Leg kick from Kattar, but Emmett checks it. Emmett wades in with a combo that doesn’t land. Emmett with a right over the top. Not a lot going on. Jab from Kattar. Kattar with a right cross. Emmett with the double jab. He shoots with no success. Kind of a nothing round. 10-9 Kattar?
Round 2 – Emmett with a quick right. Slow start again though. Kattar jabbing. Right over the top. Nice jab from Emmett. Kattar with his own. Kattar keeps pawing with it. Right hook from Emmett misses. Emmett dodges two jabs but eats the third. Emmett presses but doesn’t land anything of note. Kattar with a left. Emmett is cut over the eye. He tries to press. Kattar with a knee, Emmett lands to the body. Emmett presses again and lands to the body again. Close. I’d go 10-9 Emmett.
Round 3 – Emmett with a big right that scores. He lands inside to the body. They trade in close. Emmett misses with the home run right. Emmett lands with the next lead right. Kattar is jabbing. They’re landing. Kattar with an overhand right. Emmett with his own. Kattar with more jabs. Emmett tries to wade in with a side elbow but doesn’t land. Katter with more jabs. This is really tough to call. Emmett goes to the body. Emmett goes body/head. I guess 10-9 Emmett?
Round 4 – Jabs from Kattar. Good ones. Emmett with a low kick. So many jabs from Kattar. They’re shutting down Emmett’s offense. He shoots but there’s nothing. Emmett is touching the body. Lead knee, but Emmett spins with an elbow. Kattar lands hard with an elbow, which compromises Kattar a bit more. More jabs from Kattar. Emmett presses with power but doesn’t land a kill shot. 10-9 Kattar, and the fifth decides it to me.
Round 5 – Kattar throws a lot early but only lands a couple of light jabs. Emmett throws big but misses. He does press and land with a two-punch combo though. Kattar is more active but not landing anything to change the fight. Jabs though. Right hook. Emmett with a counter right hook. To me it’s anyone’s fight right now. More jabs from Kattar. Kattar with a short shot as Emmett advances. 45 seconds. Emmett is pressing and lands. Emmett tries his best to end on a high note but Kattar weathers it. 10-9 and 48-47 Kattar on my card.
Josh Emmett defeated Calvin Kattar via split decision (47-48, 48-47, 48-47)

Round 1 – Means lands a hard left right away. He looks for a takedown but Holland sluffs him off. Holland lands a right. Holland wades in and lands but Means stands him up. Means with a takedown against the cage. Holland’s up quick though and they brawl a bit. Means isn’t having it and clinches. Hollland again pushes him off. Nice shot from Holland. Head kick partially connects for Holland and they trade punches. Good head movement from Holland. Lead right connects for Holland but Means takes him down immediately. 10-9 Holland.
Round 2 – Means goes to the body but Holland rips him back to the body way harder. Holland throwing combos but not landing a bunch. BIG SHOT FROM HOLLAND! He changes it up and goes for the D’Arce! Means is stuck! TAP! WHOA! That was pretty.
