Gabriel and Kalyl Silva — sons of former UFC middleweight champion and mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva — were featured in amateur kickboxing matches at FightersRep 11 this past Friday. Both brothers entered the ring with undefeated records, but one of them would be bounced from unbeaten ranks with a brutal first-round knockout.
Kalyl competed for the second time this year after making his kickboxing debut in August at FightersRep 10, where he scored a viral eight-second knockout of Anthony Reynaga. The younger Silva brother would go the distance in this outing and earned a unanimous decision win over Melo Pamuk. Gabriel fought about an hour later and did not find the same success as his brother.
Gabriel met Vincent Familari for the IKF light middleweight championship. Gabriel and Familari got off to a quick start, but the Kings MMA representative took over when he caught his opponent with a spinning back fist. Gabriel was wobbled and Familari swarmed on him before the referee separated them to start a standing eight count. Gabriel continued but was overwhelmed by Familari, who teed off on him until a right hand connected flush on his chin and sent him crashing to the canvas. match was stopped with less than 20 seconds left in the first round.

An emotional Familari was interviewed moments after the knockout and showed respect to Gabriel in its aftermath.
“I knew that I had to stay on him, I couldn’t let him recover,” said Familari. “And I mean, the guy’s good. It could’ve easily been me, but God was with us on this victory. He blessed us. Much respect to my opponent, his camp and everybody else, but we did it. We pulled through.”
Familari saw his amateur record improve to 10-5, while Gabriel fell to 5-1 overall.
