If there’s anyone who could get a title shot coming off a loss, it’s Nate Diaz.

The UFC fan favorite hinted that he is targeting a title fight against the winner of the upcoming welterweight rematch between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington in tonight’s highly anticipated UFC 268 main event at Madison Square Garden.

Diaz suggested the fight just days after UFC president Dana White hinted at a welterweight matchup with Khamzat Chimaev.

It’s safe to say Diaz isn’t a fan of that idea, as the younger Diaz brother has nothing to gain and almost everything to lose.

Diaz is coming off a loss to Leon Edwards in a fight in which he stole the show by almost finishing ‘Rocky’ with a late flurry in the fifth round. The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner is 1-3 in his last four fights and one of the most inactive fighters on the UFC roster but is adored by many.

Diaz holds notable victories over Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone as well as becoming the first man to defeat Conor McGregor in the UFC. He submitted McGregor in a short notice fight at UFC 196 but dropped a majority decision to the Irishman in their historic welterweight rematch at UFC 202.

UFC 268, which will feature Usman vs. Covington 2 as the main event, takes place later tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
