UFC 268 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s huge show in NYC, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
Michael Chandler is showing off a gnarly fingernail. That’s a strange start to an Embedded episode. He’s wandering around NYC with teammates, and has no idea where he is.
Justin Gaethje is (finally) on his way to New York. He’s in first class. Kamaru Usman does some media with ESPN. He says that Colby Covington is a payday, a way to set his family up for life. He didn’t have to give him the rematch. Back to Chandler, who is doing a light workout in his room.
Off to Renzo Gracie’s gym. Trevor Wittman gives Renzo mad props for letting them come in. Frankie Edgar and Gaethje bro hug. Gaethje talks about Edgar bringing him out in 2010 as a training partner, before he was even in MMA. Usman is there too. Gaethje and Usman goof around, and Wittman has to be the guy to break them up sometimes.
Rose Namajunas does some wind sprints in the hallway, and then some sparring in her room. Weili does her photo shoot. She looks jacked. She says the mental game is where she’s made the biggest improvements. She does some media, saying she doesn’t see the bout as revenge, simply that she’s the challenger looking to become champion.
Chandler walks by Colby Covington in the hallway. They’re cordial. Colby sits down with DC and says he doesn’t respect Usman because of the cheating and fouls in the first fight. He calls him a cheating coward. He talks crap about Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns as they overlay him saying hi to Al Iaquinta and Aljamain Sterling. Usual Colby garbage.
And that’s it! UFC 268 goes down tomorrow night in MSG.
