According to MMA Junkie former UFC fighter Bubba McDaniel has been charged with deadly conduct after he allegedly discharged a firearm during a suspected road rage incident in Wichita Falls, TX. McDaniel was bonded out of custody on $50,000 bail. McDaniel faces a possible 10 year jail sentence if he is found guilty.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on August 15, 2020. In that incident McDaniel reportedly got into an altercation with another driver on the 4900 block of Johnson Road.

McDaniel is accused of then firing a handgun at the other person’s car, striking it in the rear bumper. The incident took place outside of a fire station and was witnessed by four firefighters.

McDaniel later claimed, in a Facebook Live video, that he was with his family at the time and acted in self-defence. He also claimed that the other driver appeared to be reaching for a gun. In that video McDaniel said he was not going to risk the loss of another child.

In 2018 McDaniel’s 2-year-old son was murdered. James Irven Staley III has been charged with capital murder of a person younger than 10 and felony first-degree murder in connection to that case. Staley is awaiting trial and faces the a possible death sentence if he is found guilty.

McDaniel was a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen in 2013. He was eliminated from that show by eventual series winner Kelvin Gastelum. He then defeated Gilbert Smith on the show’s finale.

He fought two more times for the UFC, losing to Brad Tavares and Sean Strickland. He was then cut from the promotion. Since then he holds a 9-2 record, which includes three appearances in Bellator.

His last contest was a TKO win at a Zak Cummings Promotions event in 2018.
