As is the norm with UFC Vegas events, last weekend’s UFC Vegas 41 Fight Night show in the Apex was a one-fight card. There were 13 actual fights on the event, but only one was worth anything to the non-hardcore viewer – the headliner between Marvin Vettori and Paulo Costa. And Costa moving the fight to 205 added some intrigue.
With Vettori taking a dominant decision win, he has moved back among the top contenders at 185…even though the fight didn’t take place in that division. Weird? Yes. Normal for this rankings panel? Also yes.
In other news, former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been inactive for a while, and has no plans to return until next spring, so the UFC removed her from the women’s P4P and the strawweight rankings. And Jon Jones took a dip on the men’s P4P list due to his recent criminal antics.
Here are the few changes this week.
Men’s P4P – Jones drops from the number two spot down to four. Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya take over two and three.
Heavyweight – No changes.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Vettori and Costa switch the two and five spots, with Vettori ahead now.
Welterweight – No changes.
Lightweight – Charles Oliveira drops from a tie for six to take seven over on his own ahead of his fight with Tony Ferguson.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – Alex Caceres enters at 15 following a nice win over Seungwoo Choi.
Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s P4P – Joanna was at six, but she’s gone. Holly Holm is up two to take over the six spot. Katlyn Chookagian is up two to eight. Marina Rodriguez, Yan Xiaonan, Julianna Pena, Aspen Ladd (?), and Lauren Murphy are all up a spot each to 10 through 14 respectively. Mackenzie Dern is back in at 15.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – Joanna’s out. She was at two. Every other fighter below her moves up a spot. Brianna Van Buren enters for the first time at 15.
