Jessica Eye has been forced to withdraw from her fight against Andrea Lee at UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Rodriguez after being hospitalized recently for an unidentified illness.

The perennial flyweight contender took to social media on Monday night and revealed that she was admitted to the hospital for what she believed was an allergic reaction to fish eggs. Eye wrote she felt better after being treated that night but was taken back to the hospital once she developed severe symptoms such as fever, body aches and profuse sweating.

A diagnosis has not been made yet, but Eye explained that she would be kept under observation for a few more days. She also spoke to her team and decided to focus on her health right now, which meant that she could no longer meet Lee in November as planned.

“Sunday I was admitted into the hospital with severe pain so bad, I could barely stand or not cry,” wrote Eye on Instagram Stories (via MMA Fighting). “They are still running tests and it looks like we have a clear diagnosis that I will share soon but I will be spending a few days in the hospital.

“My team and I have decided to pop in this fight and focus on my health. There has been struggling for a year and it’s my top priority. I already lost my gallbladder. I don’t plan to lose anymore.”

With Eye now out of the fight, Cynthia Calvillo has verbally agreed to step in, according to a report from John Morgan of MMA Junkie. Fight agreements from Calvillo and Lee are expected to be finalized soon.

Last year, Calvillo returned to the flyweight division at UFC Vegas 2, where she defeated Eye via unanimous decision in her first main event outing. Calvillo has since had her momentum halted as she suffered back-to-back losses to Katlyn Chookagian and Jéssica Andrade at UFC 255 and UFC 266, respectively. The loss to Andrade was the first time in her professional career that she was finished by way of knockout.

Lee snapped a three-fight losing streak with a second-round submission over Antonina Shevchenko at UFC 262 this past May.

UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Rodriguez takes place on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV.
