The MMA world was both appalled and left partially not surprised upon hearing the news of Jon Jones’ arrest in late September. This time, the former longtime UFC champion is charged with battery domestic violence involving his longtime fiancée, as well as a felony for damaging a police vehicle.

The 34-year-old fighter never really gave direct statements about the alleged incident, but he did promise to leave alcohol in his past “forever.”

On Wednesday, Jones’ longtime mentor Mike Winkeljohn decided to temporarily ban Jones from the JacksonWink premises. As expected, “Bones” didn’t take it lightly.

Had a heartbreaking conversation over the phone with one of my longtime coaches last night, really hurts to lose the support of someone I respect so much. Sincere thank you to the rest of the coaches for staying in the fight with me. Our journey continues…

Jones later addressed the incident through a series of tweets, this time with a more definitive response, including a denial that he ever struck his fiancée.

In another deleted tweet, he also brought up some traumatic experiences he dealt with growing up.

Right before his arrest, Jones was seemingly in better spirits after finally reaching an agreement with UFC president Dana White. He was even planning for his heavyweight debut to happen “sometime in the second quarter of 2022.”

For now, he’ll have to deal with his charges stemming from the alleged incident. He’s set for a court date on October 26.
