UFC Vegas 39 medical suspensions: Mackenzie Dern, 8 others facing possible six-month suspensions

Mackenzie Dern injured her right thumb during her fight with Marina Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 39 on Saturday night and has received a potential six-month medical suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) as a result.

To avoid being on the sidelines for an extended period, Dern must have an X-ray on the damaged appendage and get clearance from an orthopedic doctor before returning to the Octagon. Also facing a lengthy layoff is Randy Brown, who suffered toe and knee injuries in his fight against Jared Gooden.

Mackenzie Dern (right thumb): Must have X-ray of right thumb. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Randy Brown (right big toe, left knee): Must have X-ray of right big toe and MRI of left knee. Should either result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Matheus Nicolau: Suspended until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Tim Elliott: Suspended until Oct. 31 and no contact until Oct. 24

Mariya Agapova (nasal bones): Must have X-ray of nasal bones. Should result come back positive, clearance from Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. No contact until Nov. 9

Sabina Mazo: Suspended until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Chris Gutierrez: Suspended until Oct. 31 and no contact until Oct. 24

Felipe Colares (left elbow): Must have X-ray of left elbow. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 24 and no contact until Nov. 9

Alexander Romanov (left middle finger): Must have X-ray of left middle finger. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Jared Vanderaa (facial lacerations): Must have facial lacerations near left eye and nose cleared by doctor or no contest until Nov. 24. No contact until Nov. 9

Damon Jackson (right ankle): Must have X-ray of right ankle. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Dec. 9 and no contact until Nov. 24

Charles Rosa (left big toe): Must have X-ray of left big toe. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Silvana Juarez (left elbow): Must have X-ray of left elbow. Should result come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor needed or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 9 and no contact until Oct. 31

Steve Garcia: Suspended until Nov. 24 and no contact until Nov. 9

Charlies Ontiveros (right forearm, left temporal bone): Clearance from orthopedic doctor needed for fragments along distal medial humerus in right forearm. Clearance from OMF, ENT or ophthalmologist doctor needed for for fracture of region of junction of left zygoma and squamous portion of left temporal bone or no contest until April 8, 2022. Minimum suspension/no contest until Nov. 24 and no contact until Nov. 9
