Heavyweight boxing barnburners come by fairly rarely these days. But on Saturday night, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder gave the fans just that in a trilogy bout for the ages.

Wilder employed a smarter strategy in the first round, mainly fighting behind his jab. Fury, meanwhile, put on very little output for a slower start to the fight.

The action began to pick up in rounds three and four, with both men scoring knockdowns apiece. “The Bronze Bomber” even floored Fury twice in round four. But as the fight progressed, Fury employed a seemingly more effective strategy of clinch fighting putting all 277 pounds of his weight on Wilder’s neck.

By the latter half of the fight, Wilder was showing visible signs of exhaustion. He was running purely on toughness and grit as he continued to throw and land his punches. But by this time, Fury had already found his groove. He was showing fluid head movement and footwork while landing hard shots from the outside and inside.

Wilder’s legs were gone by the 11th round. Fury goes in for the kill and lands a clean right hand. Wilder drops to the canvas and the referee calls the fight at 1:10. “The Gypsy King” gets awarded a TKO win.

Tyson Fury def. Deontay Wilder via TKO (1:10 of round 11) to retain the WBC heavyweight world title.
