Last week, Bellator welterweight Dillon Danis went viral after an alleged altercation at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill in Seaside, N.J. In the video, the 28-year-old was seen getting restrained and arrested by police officers.

Days later, another video surfaced showing the Marcelo Garcia black belt being placed in a rear-naked choke by the bar’s bouncer. Up until this point, no further details of the incident had been made public.

But last week, one side of the story finally came to light. “Chance,” the supposed bouncer who put Danis in a chokehold, spilled some details in a recent appearance on Al Iaquinta’s Call Me Al show.

The 23-year-old bouncer, who had only been at his job for two years, was tasked to man the door that Saturday night.

By like 11:30, 12 o’clock, maybe a little bit later, that’s when Dillon and three of his buddies come up to the bar. And I asked them for IDs. The three guys gave me their IDs and Dillon told me, he was, like, ‘I don’t have an ID.’ I’m like, ‘Sorry, bro. You’re not getting in.’ I need an ID.

And then he said, like, ‘Oh, you don’t know who I am?’ and stuff. And I was, like, ‘Sorry, dude. I don’t know who you are, man. I need an ID.’

And then he Googles himself, and then, like, shows me the Google page. And I’m, like, ‘That’s not an ID, bro. I need like a driver’s license, a passport, something. Just so I know how old you are.’

At this point, Chance claimed Danis started getting “agitated” as a response to not being recognized. A second bouncer then stepped in to also prohibit Danis from entering the establishment. Chance says there was also a “cop that was hanging out” by them at the time.

This was when things began to get physical.

Dillon takes a step forward towards the other bouncer, Jake. And Jake put his hand on (Dillon’s) chest, he’s like, ‘Don’t move up too close, man. You don’t need to do that.’ And then that’s when he was, like, ‘Don’t touch me, don’t touch me.’

And then while they were having their whole conversation, I’m walking behind these guys. And then that’s when Dillon tried to throw a punch. It wasn’t a great pun.. (laughs). He tried to throw a punch and missed it. And that’s when I grabbed him by the back and pulled him down.

Usually, whenever I do that, I’m legitimately choking you out for, like, a second or two until you realize the situation you’re in. In the video, you see him tap and everything, and I was, like, ‘You alright, man? You good?’ And he gives me like, a little thumbs up.

So I just kind of, like, let go of him and bear hug him a little bit until the cops got everybody else under control and could give me a hand.

Chance has since enjoyed a little internet fame. He was also granted a yearlong free training pass at Tom De Blass’ Ocean County academy.

Danis, meanwhile, was charged with disorderly conduct. He is due for a court date on October 19.
