Conor McGregor has applauded Nick Diaz for his veteran craftsmanship against Robbie Lawler at UFC 266 but couldn’t help but throw Nick’s younger brother Nate under the bus in the process.

While McGregor praised Diaz for his slick boxing technique against Lawler, ‘The Notorious’ also threw in a sly dig at Nate by calling his boxing ‘piss poor’ compared to Nick’s.

“Nick/Rob was a good fight. The spin kick at the start gave the ground on Nick but he was veteran composed and was peppering lovely shots in. He just ate some big body shots and there was more coming Robbie was strong to the body it was veteran work all round. I enjoyed thoroughly. The finishing sequence when the temple was clipped after the leg went, the evasion of the final shot, which was a blistering uppercut, was magic. Look at it. Down on one knee, observing where the shot was coming from, slip/parry, and re center to open guard safe. A la (Paul) Daley fight. Nate your boxing is piss compared to Nick’s. We been fed garbage with your sloppy shots the last few years. Can see the clear difference between the two brothers after last night. Balance, composure. Another level the big bro is on to you. I made you.”

That’s when Nate, who is tied 1-1 with McGregor, issued the following snappy response.

“U can’t fight at all member your leg?” Diaz wrote back, referencing McGregor’s injury against Poirier.

Nick lost to Lawler via third-round TKO after being dropped with a beautiful check right hook to the temple. Diaz was still fully conscious but refused to get up from the mat. The former Strikeforce welterweight champion and two-time UFC welterweight title challenger showcased great boxing considering his six-year layoff.

As for Nate, the former UFC lightweight title challenger is looking for a quick turnaround fight following his decision loss to Leon Edwards this past June. He is currently without an opponent but appears interested in a welterweight bout with No. 4-ranked contender Vicente Luque.
