It’s time for UFC Vegas 37 to go down this evening (September 18th) from the promotion’s APEX building in Las Vegas, Nevada. We’ve got ranked light heavyweights headlining the event in the form of the #6 ranked, Anthony Smith, taking on the #11 ranked, Ryan Spann. Bloody Elbow is here with the betting lines for this clash of 205-pounders, a couple of prop bets, as well as the moneylines for the rest of the UFC Vegas 37 matchups.

The odds currently have the former title challenger in Smith listed as a solid betting favorite over Spann. Anthony is on deck with a -165 betting line, which means a winning $100 ticket would see a total return of $160.61. As for Ryan’s underdog position, that value can be found as high as +150 on some sites. With that, a $100 gamble on “Superman” could see a potential payout of $235. Will Smith earn is third straight victory tonight, or will Spann pull off the upset and improve his UFC record to 6-1?

Now let’s take a look at some of the exotic bets for this UFC Vegas 37 main event. The oddsmakers set the ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ prop at -400, and the ‘Fight goes to decision’ line at +265. That makes total sense when you think about the fact that for better or worse, both Smith and Spann are routinely involved in finishes. For Anthony, 46 of 51 fights finished before the final bell, and for Ryan, 20 of his 26 professional MMA matches ended early. We are talking about 66 combined finishes in 77 shared fights for a staggering inside the distance rate of 85.6%. Even Mike Tyson would call that ‘ludicrous.’

The MMA veteran in Smith has nearly twice as many fights as Spann, and he’s been lethal for a lot longer. Of course he’s the fighter that the bookies see as more likely to manifest a finish. The prop bet ‘Smith wins inside distance’ is sitting at +100 even money, while the wager ‘Spann wins inside distance’ holds a sizable underdog value of +200.

Although the odds are suggesting Smith will finish inside the distance, the prop bets for the ways in which that happens are quite lucrative. ‘Smith wins by TKO/KO’ is available at +275, and ‘Smith wins by submission’ is on the table at +390. Surprisingly, the exotic options for the ways Ryan could end it early are not too far off from those of Anthony. ‘Spann wins by TKO/KO’ clocks in at +375, and ‘Spann wins by submission’ is trending at +500.
