On the red carpet for last weekend’s MTV Video Music Award’s things got feisty between former UFC champion Conor McGregor and recording artist Machine Gun Kelly.

Cameras captured the moment McGregor threw a drink at MGK. The Irishman then had to be held back. Extra later reported that the cause of the scuffle was McGregor sending private messages to Kelly’s date, actor Megan Fox.

There’s no chance that this altercation leads to a sanctioned fight between the pro combat sports athlete and the musician. However, that hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from drawing up some betting lines.

Betting site Bovada listed McGregor as a -5000 favourite and Kelly as a +1000 underdog (ht MMA Fighting).

If Kelly were to join the growing ranks of celebrities entering the ring (or cage), he could likely count on advice from former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Miocic and Kelly—both of whom are Clevelanders—are close friends, with Kelly a regular feature in the front row of Miocic’s fights.

McGregor’s last contest, versus Dustin Poirier in July, ended in a broken leg and a TKO loss. That was McGregor’s second TKO loss to Poirier this calendar year.

Since then McGregor has grabbed headlines for increasingly unhinged tirades and taunts over social media. Among McGregor’s messages are threats against Poirier’s wife and family and a tasteless comment regarding Khabib Nurmagomedov’s late father.

McGregor’s injury is expected to keep him out of action for around a year.
