Three months after his professional boxing return against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva signed up to take on Hall-of-Famer Tito Ortiz. The two men took part in Saturday’s Triller Fight Club event in Florida, headlined by Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort.
There was a bit of rift between the two in the lead-up, with Ortiz being upset about having to make the 195-pound weight requirement. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” ended up missing weight, and to make matters worse, he also ended up falling flat on his face from a two-punch combination from Silva inside 90 seconds.
“The Spider” played a bit of rope-a-dope, dodging every punch Ortiz threw. He continued to play this strategy until finally landing a counter right hook that seemingly got the job done already. Silva continued to throw his punches until a left hand finally sent Ortiz to the canvas.
The 46-year-old Silva now holds a boxing record of 3-1.
