Paige VanZant fell short in her second appearance for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), this time losing a unanimous decision to promotional newcomer and former UFC opponent, Rachael Ostovich.

The duo fought a few years ago at UFC Brooklyn, where VanZant submitted Ostovich with an armbar in the second round of their fight. They both insisted that the fight at BKFC was not necessarily a rematch, considering the change in sport and expected a totally different showing. And it was indeed a different showing.

VanZant entered the fight off of a loss to Britain Hart at BKFC: Knucklemania earlier this year, but felt as though she now had enough experience to get the better of Ostovich. The BKFC debutante had other plans, however. Ostovich was prepared to meet VanZant in the middle of the ring and throw down, which she did. The Hawaiian tagged her opponent often with devastating right hands, one of which stunned VanZant in the fourth round. She kept this momentum going until the final bell and was eventually declared the victor by the judges.

VanZant had her moments though. “12 gauge” had some nice combinations and did great work in the clinch, but it would not be enough as Ostovich continued to push forward and land the harder shots.
