For someone who was coming off a nearly five-year layoff, Miesha Tate looked sharp on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 31. The former UFC and Strikeforce bantamweight champion put on a dominant performance against number 12-ranked Marion Reneau and ended her two-fight skid via third-round TKO.

That impressive victory caught the attention of her contemporaries at the women’s 135-pound division. One of those who now wants a piece of “Cupcake” (pun intentional) is Jessica-Rose Clark, who issued this cordial callout via social media.

That timeline seems to align with Tate’s own plans, as she intends to make her way back to title contention, and hopefully, reclaim the belt that was once hers.

“I wanna let this victory settle. I don’t want to be in a rush or anything, but of course, I am a woman on a mission here. I do want to get to the top,” Tate told reports during the post-fight scrum.

“I think a fight by the end of the year is reasonable.”

Prior to Saturday night, the 34-year-old Tate (19-7) last saw action against her TUF 18 apprentice Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 in 2016. She lost via unanimous decision and announced her retirement at 30 years of age.

The 33-year-old Clark (10-6, 1 NC) last fought at UFC Vegas 11 last September against the debuting Sarah Alpar. She won via third-round TKO to also break a two-fight losing streak.
