Headlining UFC 264 was the third bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. After going 1-1, McGregor had less than six months to try and adjust and rebound from his recent TKO loss to Poirier. In the end, the trilogy was completed, and the result was the same as the last one. Only this time, Poirier was far more dominant, and McGregor ended with a nasty injury too.

Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor, Round 1

Conor with a side kick right outta the gate. And a leg kick. Again. He’s all kicks. Conor with a left hook and a spinning back kick. They trade low kicks. McGregor is just lighting up Poirier’s front leg. Straight left from Conor, Poirier with two lefts that stun Conor! They tie up. Conor pulls him down into a guillotine! Poirier is high on the cage though and not in danger. Poirier is on top now, working elbows. Elbows from Conor from the bottom. Huge elbows from Poirier from the top! Conor’s mouth is bleeding. Dustin landing huge elbows! Upkick from Conor connects! Conor looks for a guillotine again but has no leverage. Poirier backs out and lets him up. They brawl, and Conor immediately goes down again. Holy shit his ankle is broken. Conor’s ankle is broken. This is over. What a wild five minutes. Just saw the replay, so gross.
