Bantamweight contender Pedro Munhoz is excited to take on fellow Brazilian Jose Aldo in his next outing. Although he admits to being a fan of the former UFC featherweight champion, ‘Pedrinho’ claims that fans can still expect fireworks when they meet each other at UFC 265.

In an interview with Ag Fight, Munhoz made it clear that he has the utmost respect for Aldo, even calling the former champion an inspiration. However, Pedro still promises to be aggressive and hopes to soon add a finish win over the legendary featherweight to his record.

“It’s going to be an honor to share the Octagon with Aldo,” Munhoz said. “I really admire his style. I’ve always watched his fights and I know how much he has done for his community. He’s always been a reference for me in the sport. I’m very grateful to fight him.”

“We both have similar fighting styles,” Pedro continued. “We both walk forward, so I think it’s going to be a very entertaining, explosive fight. It sure will be a fight with high levels of technique. Everyone knows what they can expect from me. Always aggressive and looking for the finish. That matches well with Aldo’s style.”

In his last outing, Munhoz (19-5-1 NC) picked up a unanimous decision over Jimmie Rivera, bck in February. The victory snapped a two-fight losing skid for the 34-year-old, who had previously suffered decision losses to former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and the current bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling.

Now, Munhoz is expected to take on Aldo at UFC 265, on August 7, in Houston, Texas. The card is scheduled to be headlined by an interim heavyweight title fight between top contenders Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane.
