Next week’s UFC 264 preliminary card was supposed to feature an intriguing welterweight battle between Sean Brady and Kevin Lee, but the fight will instead take place in late August.

The UFC announced earlier this week that following Lee withdrawing from the July 10th pay-per-view blockbuster due to injury, his matchup with Brady has been rescheduled for a Fight Night card on August 28th.

Brady (14-0) came into the UFC as the Cage Fury FC welterweight champion with a lot of potential. Needless to say he has been very impressive in his four Octagon appearances, most recently submitting Jake Matthews at UFC 259 in March. The Philadelphia native has ascended to #14 in the latest UFC welterweight rankings.

Lee (18-6) challenged for the interim lightweight title back in 2016, losing by submission to Tony Ferguson. ‘The Motown Phenom’ previously moved up to 170 lbs in 2019 and was submitted by Rafael dos Anjos. He went back down to lightweight and spectacularly KO’d Gregor Gillespie before losing by submission to eventual UFC champion Charles Oliveira in March of last year. He did not compete for the rest of 2020 due to knee injuries, and it looks as if the weight miss for the Oliveira fight has prompted him to return to welterweight.

No main event has been announced for this UFC Fight Night show, which is expected to be held at the APEX in Las Vegas.
