Chan Sung Jung used a disciplined and controlled game plan to score a decision win over Dan Ige on Saturday. The contest between the top-10 ranked featherweights served as the main event of UFC Vegas 29.

After the win, Jung, who was coming off an October decision loss to Brian Ortega, left the octagon at the UFC Apex with renewed self-assurance.

“This fight really gave me the confidence that I can mix it up and I can be the world champion,” Jung said via interpreter at the post-fight press conference. “Definitely, I want a title shot first. If I can’t get a title shot then I’m willing to fight Max (Holloway), but I respect Yair (Rodriguez) and don’t want to do the way of kind of jumping between those two when they were already set to fight.”

The Holloway vs. Rodriguez bout, which was scheduled for July 17, was recently postponed because of an undisclosed injury to Holloway.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is expected to face Ortega in September.

Jung fought for the UFC’s 145-pound crown in 2013. He lost that fight to then champion Jose Aldo via fourth-round TKO. Jung entered UFC Vegas 29 as the No. 4 ranked fighter in the featherweight division.

Jung’s significant striking accuracy in the Ige fight was 55 percent, a huge jump from the 38 percent he managed against Ortega.

Here is a look at the pertinent stats from Jung vs. Ige.
