Dana White has changed his tune on Nick Diaz’s comeback.

Like with most fighters trying to negotiate or ask for better pay, the UFC President just previously questioned the former Strikeforce champion’s desire to fight. Now White’s stance has changed, saying we’re likely to see Diaz return soon.

“I wasn’t very high on it. I didn’t think that it would happen, but it looks like it will. It looks like Nick (Diaz) will fight this year,” White told UFC Arabia’s Farah Hannoun.

“It looks like it’s going to happen. The matchmakers have (talked to him). I don’t know where they’re at, but it’s looking promising.”

It will be interesting to see who Diaz gets matched up against, but hopefully he gets booked in fun fights against fellow veterans, instead of being fed to young killers and contenders off the bat. Diaz has had a great career, but it will be a tough task to come back after that long a layoff.

Diaz, who will be turning 38 this August, hasn’t competed in over six years, and hasn’t won in almost a decade. He also had a worrying stretch of getting “out of control” just drinking and partying in Las Vegas, but the former UFC welterweight title contender seems to have gotten back to a healthier lifestyle and actually looks to be in great shape nowadays.
