The UFC’s May 8th event was supposed to feature T.J. Dillahsaw’s return from a two-year layoff. The former bantamweight champion was booked to headline the said event against number two-ranked 135-pound contender Cory Sandhagen.

Dillashaw didn’t make it to the fight as he was forced to pull out due to a cut he sustained during training. For fans like myself who were looking forward to seeing how he would fare against the streaking “Sandman,” it was disappointing to hear.

But here’s some good news. According to MMA Junkie, the UFC has re-booked this matchup to headline the July 24th event. It likely takes place at the “cozy” APEX facility in Las Vegas.

Dillashaw’s last Octagon appearance happened in early 2019 in Brooklyn when he got TKOd by the Cringe King Henry Cejudo inside 32 seconds. To add insult to injury, he popped for EPO during a post-fight drug test, which led to his two-year suspension.

The 29-year-old Sandhagen, meanwhile, has been on a two-fight tear. He last saw action in February when he scored a highlight-reel flying knee knockout win over former UFC champion and future legend Frankie Edgar.

Other announced bookings for the July 24 event are the flyweight matchup between Maycee Barber and Miranda Maverick, and a bantamweight bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson.
