According to Jack Wannan of Knockdown News, veteran MMA fighter Jake Heun, 33, has plead guilty of trafficking drugs into Australia. Heun admitted to two charges; importing a commercial controlled drug (methamphetamine) and trafficking a controlled drug (cocaine). Those offenses are beleived to have taken place between 2019 and 2020.

Heun plead guilty to those charges via a video call with the Magistrate Court of Victoria on Tuesday. In pleading guilty to those charges Heun saw a number of other charges dropped from the case. Those charges included attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug and one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled precursor.

Heun’s next court date is November 11. That’s when the prosecution and defence will present information to the judge before that judge makes a decision on a sentence.

According to Australia’s criminal code, the maximum penalty for trafficking a commercial quantity of controlled drugs is life imprisonment.

Heun has a 15-9 pro MMA record. The American’s pro debut came on the Alaskan regional scene in 2011.

In 2012 and 2013 Heun appeared on The Ultimate Fighter. In 2012 he was eliminated by Adam Cella and in 2013 he was eliminated by Todd Monaghan. Both those losses came via armbar and occurred at the first elimination stage.

In 2014 Heun signed with WSOF. He exited that promotion with losses to Vinny Magalhaes and Smealinho Rama. After a stop in Road FC in South Korea, he signed for PFL in 2018.

In PFL’s inaugural season Heun lost in the first round of the light heavyweight tournament via a flying knee from Alex Nicholson. After that he appeared at RIZIN 13, losing to current UFC star Jiri Prochazka.

In 2019 Heun fought three times for RIZIN, beating Roque Martinez, Vitaly Martinez and Satoshi Ishii.
