With Logan Paul’s upcoming boxing exhibition bout against former multiple-time world champion and boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr., it’s of little surprise that Paul’s brother – fresh off his own pro boxing victory over Ben Askren – would find a way to worm himself into the spotlight.

Much like Logan, the younger Paul brother – Jake – has made his mark in the public consciousness as a social media troll and YouTube personality. Alongside victories over former NBA player Nate Robinson and aforementioned ex-UFC fighter Ben Askren, Paul has recently made combat sports headlines with public altercations involving Bellator fighter/Conor McGregor training partner Dillon Danis and former UFC champion/UFC commentary team member Daniel Cormier.

Now he can add Mayweather to the list. During a recent media event for the Logan Paul/Floyd Mayweather exhibition bout, Jake confronted Mayweather—apparently with designs of getting his own bout booked.

“Get Al Heymon out here. Let me call Al Heymon, let’s make it happen,” Paul taunted Mayweather, suggesting they talk to the boxer’s manager and set up a fight. But, as Mayweather stepped to Paul, telling him he was “his own boss,” Paul snagged the baseball cap off Mayweather’s head, yelling “Got yer hat,” before scampering off amid a sea of media members.

Mayweather was quick to give chase, however, and general chaos ensued.

After the altercation, Jake Paul took to TikTok, posting a video where he spelled out his plan to grab Mayweather’s hat ahead of time, spliced in some footage of the fracas, and then followed up with a quick video message.

“It went good,” Paul told fans.

Mayweather vs. Logan Paul is set to take place on June 6th at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. The bout will be just the second exhibition contest of Mayweather’s career, following a 2018 fight against kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa. For Logan Paul, this contest will mark his first exhibition bout—having previously competed twice against British YouTuber-turned-rapper KSI; once in a ‘white collar’ amateur boxing bout which resulted in a draw, and later a pro bout, which KSI won by split decision.

In the meantime, until Mayweather and Paul step in the ring, it looks like Jake Paul will be happy to use any opportunity he can to steal some slice of the limelight, and just maybe hook his own bout with Mayweather as a result.
