“BMF” champion Jorge Masvidal didn’t think too highly of Kamaru Usman’s punching power leading up to their UFC 261 rematch. Here’s what he said at the Countdown show.

He’s one of the softest hitters I’ve ever been in front of, period. God didn’t bless him with that manliness where he could hurt another man with his fists. It must suck to live that life.

But after suffering his first knockout loss in the UFC at the hands of “The Nigerian Nightmare” on Saturday night, “Gamebred” gave credit where it’s due. He also admitted that overconfidence may have played a factor.

“Usman showed me something that he didn’t show the first fight,” Masvidal told Joe Rogan during the Octagon interview. “I didn’t feel his power and that’s what happens when you get overconfident. I thought we were gonna wrestle more. I was ready to wrestle for 25 minutes.

“All the props to him in the world, he caught me by surprise. He’s got my number, man. There’s nothing I can say but he won this fair and square and God bless him.”

Masvidal is now on a two-fight skid. Usman, meanwhile, extended his overall win streak to 18 (14 in the UFC) as he marks his fourth straight title defense.
