YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul ruffled a lot of feathers in the MMA community after his knockout win over Ben Askren last weekend. One of those he irked was retired UFC double-champion Daniel Cormier.

The rift between the two began after the Triller event when a locker room altercation between Tyron Woodley and Paul’s cornerman J’Leon Love came to light. Cormier first called out Love for his behavior towards Woodley, which sparked some Twitter callouts.

As Cormier already brushed things off, Paul doubled down on his challenge to “DC.”

The two finally crossed paths at UFC 261 on Saturday, with Cormier on commentary duties and Paul amongst the thousands of attendees. And there was apparently a brief exchange of words.

Cormier also spoke about it to Jon Anik and Joe Rogan when he got back to the broadcast booth.

“I swear to God, I just saw Jake Paul,” he said. “I pointed at him, I said, ‘Don’t play with me.’ Because I’ll slap him in the face.

“I don’t play those games, Joe.”

The 42-year-old Cormier retired from professional competition last August after failing to recapture the UFC heavyweight title in his trilogy fight against Stipe Miocic.
