UFC Vegas 24 Final Fight Stats: Robert Whittaker dominates Kelvin Gastelum

In what will go down as one of the most complete and masterful performances of his UFC career, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker dominated Kelvin Gastelum on his way to a unanimous decision win in the main event of UFC Vegas 24.

The victory gave Whittaker an 11-1 record since he moved to 185 pounds in late 2014. The only man to defeat Whittaker at middleweight is current divisional champion Israel Adesanya. Whittaker believes his performance Saturday at UFC Apex in Las Vegas was good enough to earn him a rematch with the man who knocked him out in October 2019.

“I’ve fought nothing but No. 1 contenders (since losing to Adesanya,” Whittaker said at the post-fight press conference. “I’ve already ran the gauntlet. Everybody that had a title shot if they beat me, I beat. That’s it.”

UFC president Dana White seemed to agree with the former champ. White told Yahoo Sports via text that the rematch between Adesanya and Whittaker “makes sense.”

Whittaker hopes that fight can take place with a large crowd in New Zealand.

“I’ll go home and look at my injuries, because that was a tough fight,” Whittaker said. “But I think the borders in New Zealand are the best they’ve ever been, so September I think we can get a packed out show and pump the industry down there and the MMA industry as a whole.”

UFC Vegas 24 took place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. ESPN broadcast the fight card, which also streamed on ESPN+. Below are the final fight stats from Whittaker vs. Gastelum.
