UFC Vegas 23 video highlights: Marvin Vettori sets takedown record against Kevin Holland

A middleweight record was set in the UFC Vegas 23 main event when the company’s #6 ranked, Marvin Vettori, scored 11 takedowns on the #10 ranked, Kevin Holland, in what was a dominant decision victory. Holland just couldn’t stop the takedown, and Vettori stuck to the script too get the win. Holland did have a couple of moments where he exploded with some hard blows, but they were few and far between. Nonetheless, it was a strong win for Vettori.

Marvin Vettori vs. Kevin Holland – Round 3

Holland’s left eye is closing on him and he’s asked by a doctor if he can see. He says he can and the fight continues. Easy takedown by Vettori and Holland pops back up but he might get dragged down again as Vettori turns the corner. Full mount for Vettori with plenty of time left in the round. He’s going for an arm-triangle choke and he’s advanced to side control. No choke for Vettori but Holland is still in a bad spot. Holland is able to get back to his feet but his eye is a mess and he looks so much slower. Big straight left by Vettori cracks Holland and there’s another double and Marvin has the back. Holland stands back up but he’s getting worn down. Some slaps by Holland as Vettori gets him with a right hook on the exit. Body kick by Vettori, who himself has noticeably slowed but he’s still comfortably ahead. Nice flurry of shots from Holland but he’s going to need a finish. And he’s talking and jawing at Vettori as he ends the round strongly but surely it’s 30-27 Vettori.
