On Saturday, Marvin Vettori, who is the No. 6 ranked fighter in the official UFC middleweight rankings looks to hold on to his spot on the list and his winning streak when he faces the No. 10 ranked Kevin Holland in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 23 fight card.
The UFC booked Vettori to face Darren Till on this card, but that scrap fell through when Till injured his collarbone. Holland, who is coming off a one-sided decision loss to Derek Brunson, quickly signed on to replace Till.
Vettori is on a four-fight winning streak. His most recent win was a “Fight of the Night” bonus-winning main event scrap opposite Jack Hermansson in December. Vettori won that fight by decision and put his name at the top of the UFC middleweight record book in two single fight categories — most significant head strikes landed and most distance strikes landed. Vettori’s performance in that contest put him in the top-10 in five other single fight record categories at 185 pounds.
Holland, who won five fights during 2020, lost his first bout of 2021 when Brunson defeated him via decision on March 20.
